Changing of the guard

Posted on: September 5, 2011 1:01 pm

I think this is it. The year where the tide starts to change and we see the studs we are used to start falling behind the new stars of the league. This is a young mans game and the league is changing every year. Favoring the passing game. Maybe these young players don't pass them this year but you will be able to what players will be the big boys for years to come by the end of this year. Any predictions who they will be ? Please post, any position.

Changing of the guard

You make a valid point that past stars will be taking a backseat to the new, younger stars of the NFL.  Players like Sam Bradford and Josh Freeman will definitely shine brighter in years to come.  Aaron Rogers has already started to take the lead on this topic.  Other young athletes like Chris Johnson and Ray Rice will become league's MVP in the very near future surpassing the likes of a LaDainian Tomlinson.  Football is a sport where younger players get more attention (except for maybe at Quaterback), so it is reasonable to believe that a "changing of the guard" is here.  However, lets not count out the older players like Ray Lewis, Charles Woodson, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady who continue to show us why they are still the best.  These players are still very relevant on their teams and leadership goes a long way.

Changing of the guard

Agreed, this is becoming a youngs mens game. I also agree that thier will be more of an "AIR" assault, but only for the first half of the season. As the teams start to settle into there own. But once this happens, I feel that the game will turn more into a running game. WR's will always tell you they would rather play with out gloves. Passing game will never go away, but you must estahablish the RUN sooner or later.

TE's and RB's [that can catch out of the backfield] will be prime targets thru-out the season, but more during games 1-7.

The way Defense players must tackle along with the new kick off rule, will make the game slower and boaring at times!!!!
I think (hope), some teams will still Run out of the End Zone!
